12 June 2019
Winners of the Amuse Bouche Award Kevin Stummer, (Top Apprentice in the Kitchen category) and Lukas Horch (Top Apprentice in the Service category) were lucky enough to meet a few stars of Styria’s gourmet scene in person. Definitely something to inspire our young trainees!
In the Top Apprentice Competition run by Amuse Bouche Kevin Stummer and Lukas Horch from the Grand Hotel Wien were singled out for their innovative ideas in executing the final menu. Their prize was an exclusive Tour d´Amuse Bouche, a two-day gourmet trip through the region of Styria, where they got the chance to meet the greats of the culinary scene: Josef Zotter, for example, or Alois Gölles, who gave them a personal tour of his “glass manufactory”. Also on the programme was a visit to the Vulcano Ham Factory and the Fromagerie at Riegersburg.
“This has been a trip to remember! It was beyond our wildest dreams in every respect, and it’s no exaggeration to say that this has been one of the most extraordinary experiences of our lives!” commented Kevin Stummer and Lukas Horch. “We met some amazing entrepreneurs who gave us a really great look at life behind the scenes. Definitely a highlight was to meet so many fascinating people.”
Horst Mayer, Director General of the Grand Hotel Wien, said of the prize: “Many thanks indeed to Diversey and Amuse Bouche for organising such a wonderful prize. They have given our Top Apprentices a fantastic window into some exciting ventures, and given our junior staff members something to aspire to! ”
